Skid control and vehicle dynamics course

Aimed At:

All drivers who require an understanding of skid control techniques, ABS and vehicle dynamics. The course will involve theory, and practical off road training.

Location:

Xcel have access to 2 fixed locations within the UK where there is use of low friction surfaces simulating realistic situations.

Duration:

Half day or Full day

Driver/Trainer Ratio

1:1 or 2:1

Aims

To learn how to reduce or eliminate the main cause of a skid, and how to correctly regain control if such a skid occurs.

Objectives:

At the end of the session the driver will:

  • Be aware of all types of skid and the causes.
  • Be aware of the methods of using the forces acting on the vehicle in a positive way.
  • Be able to identify a potential loss of control early and deal with it effectively.
  • Method:

By the use of briefings and practical sessions the driver training programme will focus on the needs and requirements of the driver usually in the vehicle the driver is used to driving. Using low friction surfaces removes the need for cumbersome artificial environments such as cradles so the driver can experience realistic situations at low speed.
